Black and White Infrared
Infrared photography first startles, the intrigues the viewer. My attraction to this medium comes from my dual perspectives as both artist and psychologist. On an overcast day, one feels but does not necessarily see the energy of a storm brewing. Infrared photography captures the energy. In nature, ones sees the beauty of lush foliage, but only senses the life force of the plants. Infrared uncovers this force. By exposing the subconscious elements just beyond our visual spectrum, this medium evokes a powerful visceral response. And like the subconscious, which comes out to play in our dreams, infrared photography exhibits an ethereal, dreamlike quality. (No, these are not snow scenes.)
